Bidh Àrd-sgoil Thiriodh (an aon sgoil air Eilean Thiriodh) ag oideachadh òigridh Thiriodh bho aois 3 gu 18. Tha deagh ghoireasan ICT anns an sgoil airson ionnsachadh agus teagasg a bhrosnachadh, a’ gabhail a-steach; bùird eadar-gnìomhail “Promethean” anns gach clas agus goireasan co-labhairt bhideo. Tha ‘laptop’ sgoile aig gach sgoilear a chleachdas iad aig an taigh cho math ri sa chlas agus, a dh’aithghearr, bidh cothrom aig sgoilearan ann an clas 1 agus clas 2 iPads a chleachdadh ann an leasanan cuideachd.

Tha e a’ toirt toileachas mòr dhuinn adhartas nan sgoilearan fhaicinn bho aois trì gus am fàg iad an sgoil. Tha a’ choimhearsnachd-ionnsachaigh bheag againn a’ ciallachadh gu bheil tidsearan, sgoilearan agus a’ choimhearsnachd nas fharsaing ag obair còmhla gu dlùth; ann an àite beag iomalach tha obair sgioba glè chudromach.

Aig fìor chridhe na sgoile tha:

  • Urram
  • Co-ionnannachd
  • Ionracas
  • Dleastanas
  • Dùbhlan

Anns an sgoil againn bidh sinn a’ strì ri cothroman a thabhann gus prìomh-bheachdan moralta, sòisealta is cultarail ar sgoilearan a leudachadh. Bidh sinn ag obair gu dealasach ri chèile gus àrainneachd spèiseil a chruthachadh tro bhith a’ brosnachadh is a’ beachdachadh air amasan na sgoile gu cunbhalach.

Tha ceòl làidir anns a’ choimhearsnachd agus anns an sgoil bidh sinn ag obair gu cruaidh airson taic a chur ri seo. Bidh mòran sgoilearan a’ taghadh ‘Ceòl’ mar chuspair cho math ri bhith a’ frithealadh ar Club Ciùil as dèidh na sgoile gach Diardaoin. Faodaidh sgoilearan caochladh math ionnsramaidean ionnsachadh, leithid: fidheal, bogsa, piàna, giotàr agus duiseal.

Tiree High School is the only school on the Isle of Tiree and provides education for the community of Tiree from age 3 to 18 years. The school is well equipped with ICT for learning and teaching, including interactive promethean boards in all classrooms and video-conferencing facilities. All students are issued with a laptop for use both in the classroom and at home. Pupils in P1 and P2 will each be issued with a school iPad in the near future.

The ability to follow the progress of a child from the age of three until they leave the school environment is highly rewarding and the small school community enables excellent working relationships to develop between pupils, teachers and the wider community. Cooperation, flexibility and teamwork are essential features of work in our small, remote area.

Ethos

At the core of everything we do are our school values:

  • Respect
  • Equality
  • Integrity
  • Responsibility
  • Challenge

In our school we are committed to providing opportunities for the development of young people’s moral, social and cultural values through both our ethos and curriculum.  We strive to provide an atmosphere of mutual respect and collective responsibility through regular promotion and embedding of our values.

Tiree has a strong musical tradition and the school works hard to support this. A high proportion of our pupils opt for musical tuition in school as well as attending our after school Music Club. Pupils can learn a variety of instruments including: fiddle, accordion, piano, guitar and flute.
